First Week Of School

What do you think of when you think about a new school year? I think of new cloths new classes, and of course new teachers and friends. There are also certain smells that reminds me of a new school year the smell of freshly sharpen pencils. How can we help our children be better prepared for the first day school? One thing that is always important is a good night’s sleep and a good breakfast in the morning.
please add your thoughts to the first week of school!

Traveling with children!

It is one in the morning and I am sitting in a car with my three children, husband, and my mother in law traveling from Virginia to Iowa. This is about a 20 hour drive. It has not been and easy first three or four hours, My youngest child who is three after the first two hours of the trip she was done. Well after alot of screaming and crying by her and my husband plugging his ears. My mother in law offering her everything under the sun, she finally gave in and went to sleep. One thing I can say my two older children have done over all real well. We shall see what happens when they all wake up and we are still in the car.

So you are about to be a mom for the very first time!

Finding out you are going to be a parent for the first time is a wonderful experience! There is excitement, joy and of course a fear of “will I be good enough!” This is all very natural, but every first time mother gets through one way or another. I am a mother of three children and a child development specialist. My name is Melissa Smith and I live in Virgina. This is my first blog, but I am expanding my horizons. I have two degrees one in Early Childhood Development and a Bachelors in Early Childhood Education Administration.I am also working on my Master’s Degree in Education with a specialization in Child Development. I have been working in my own in home day school for the past eight years. I love the work that I do and the joy I get each and every day watching these little ones grow and develop. I have also been given a chance to work with the moms and dads of these wonderful children.
So I am taking all of this one step futher by doing a blog to helps moms and dads, as well as making suggestions as to what you might find useful for your child of any age. Please tell your friends and family. Also feel free to put in your thoughts, feelings and ideas. I want this to be a community of parents and teachers and other professionals in the child development field and share ideas and ask questions. So lets get started!
